First post!

Well here we are! Thought I’d start to put this together to record events of my soon arriving sabbatical – but what a weekend just gone!

Saturday was a great day – good time of prayer first thing, then out for a great training bike ride with Beds Road Cycling Club – some great skills training – never thought going slow could make your legs hurt so much!! Had to knock off before the finish and me and Dave (another Christian from Kings Arms Church I discovered) took it in turns pacing one another back to town. Was literally arrive home, dash into shower and then out again to steward at rugby. A great afternoon – sun came out and some excellent rugby – great crowd too of just over 4000. Sadly Bedford lost 5:6 to Bristol – though if Pritch’s kicking boots had been on we’d have won comfortably! Some class moves going on through the game!

Sunday was our church day away at Renhold Village Hall – a great day – and great to have my friends Paul Sands and Darren Chubb with us – some great teaching from Paul and children seemed blessed by time with Darren and co. Great to know of fresh spiritual gifts being released amongst us.

Didn’t sleep well last night – can’t help wondering whether the coffee I drank was actually decaf – woke around 3am – got up at 3.30am and watched catch up tv on the cycling world championships – watching Cancellara was absolutely amazing – all we had been doing Saturday put in to absolute perfection…. and then some!!

Eventually went back to bed and tossed and turned and prayed my way through a few hours before getting up after 7am. Did the Tescos shop, then saw to birds. Today is Julie’s birthday so had joy of giving her her card and promised gift! Really good day. Went out to Brington to get some bird seed, then home for lunch. Went up gym in afternoon – completed the gym marathon challenge with a final 23k on the bike – pleased to be going better than last week – was it because I cycled first, or was it the effect of the cadence training on Saturday?? Straight from the bike to the track machine and 5k of interval training   – varying between 12kph and 15kph, with final sprint for 200m at 16kph – pleased with a fast treadmill time of 22:37.

Home starving and then out to celebrate Julie’s birthday at Frankie & Benny’s – lovely meal, great company and excellent waitress – kindly put on the Happy Birthday music for |Julie and brought a candle in her desert – great stuff. I’m so blessed to have a wonderful wife and lovely daughter.

Couple of busy days ahead before I begin sabbatical – maybe I’ll get to post during…. maybe I won’t. Suspect no training for next couple of days, but hopefully some prayer and reflection.

Its only soon after 9pm, but I’m shattered so think I’ll be heading to bed soon. God bless!
